What information is collected when you use LakeRipple, and how it is used.
Last updated October 10, 2026
This policy explains what information is collected when you visit LakeRipple.com (“LakeRipple,” “the site,” “we,” “us”) and how it is used. LakeRipple is a free, informational guide to lakes and ponds. It has no user accounts, and you cannot buy anything on it.
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not ask you to create an account.
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors come from (city or region level), what device and browser they use, and how they found the site. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect this information, and Google processes it under the Google Privacy Policy. We use it only in aggregate, to improve the site.
You can limit this tracking by blocking or deleting cookies in your browser settings, or by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Learn more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Some links on LakeRipple go to partner sites, such as boat rentals, vacation rentals, outdoor gear stores and Amazon. Some of these are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy something (see our Affiliate Disclosure). When you click one, the partner may use cookies or similar technologies to record that you came from LakeRipple. Once you leave our site, the partner's own privacy policy and terms apply, so please review them.
If you send us a message through our contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you submit. Form submissions are processed and stored by our website host, Netlify. We use them only to respond to you, and we do not add you to a mailing list.
If you tap “Find lakes near me,” your browser asks for permission to share your location. Your location is used only inside your browser to sort lakes by distance. It is not sent to LakeRipple.
Some features load live information directly from public services, so your browser contacts those services and they receive standard technical details such as your IP address. These include the National Weather Service (current weather and forecasts), NHDES mapping services (cyanobacteria status) and, if you open an interactive map, OpenStreetMap map tiles and the Leaflet map library from unpkg.com. Share buttons only open your own email, text or social app; we do not load social media trackers.
Like most websites, our host (Netlify) may automatically log basic technical information such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and performance.
LakeRipple is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows when it last changed. Questions or privacy requests? Reach us through our contact form.
