437 lakes across 12 states, from data published on each lake's page.
These lakes have at least one public access site that the state agency or map data describes as carry-in, hand launch, cartop or small-craft only, the kind of spot where you carry a kayak, canoe or paddleboard to the water instead of backing a trailer down a ramp. Access-site records come from state fish and wildlife and natural resources agencies, plus OpenStreetMap where a state publishes none. Many trailer ramps also work for paddlers, but they are not counted here unless the record lists hand launching. Parking, fees and permit stickers vary, so check the lake page and the site owner before you go.
We list a lake here only when its LakeRipple page carries enough sourced detail to be a full guide; 437 lakes qualify today, and the list grows as we add data. Sorted by the number of hand-launch sites, then by lake size.
